Whitestone Cheese Rolling

If chasing a roll of cheese down a steep hill's your thing, come along and race for the cheese and a ride in a helicopter at the 2009 Whitestone Cheese Rolling.

Every 15 minutes a 4kg cheese is launched from the top of this steep hill - catcher's keepers! First, second and third place-getters of each race go into the Grand Final at 4:45pm, the winner of which wins $500.

Fantastic food will also be on offer including Whitestone cheese tasting, Kaikoura Seafood BBQ, lamb on the spit, juicy Roxburgh fruit and strawberries and icecream. Other activities throughout the day include Kiwi Rockclimbing Wall, helicopter joyrides and Susie T's fabulous foot massages.

Whitestone Cheese Rolling New Zealand aims to raise funds for families in Southland and Otago facing the challenge of autism. Under 16 years enter free. Gate opens noon, first roll 2pm.
