Whakapapa Ski Field
Whakapapa Skifield open for the winter season in June.
Whakapapa is New Zealand's largest developed ski area, with 550 hectares of groomed snow. Difficulties range from the beginner's area at Happy Valley, which is separate to the main ski area; to The Pinnacles, which offers challenging skiing for advanced skiiers on the upper reaches of Mt Ruapehu.
There are 30 groomed trails and a huge variety of off-piste areas which intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders will love.
As snowboarding and freeskiing have literally reached new heights, they have catered to these riders by building special features to keep them entertained. This year the Moro Halfpipe will be back as well as a beginner to intermediate Terrain Park.
All lift passes purchased at Whakapapa are also valid at Turoa skifield, so why limit yourself?
