NZSO Heartland Tour - Wanganui
The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra presents - The Lion Foundation Heartland Tour. featuring Special guests: Mike Kirgan - Trumpet, and Hamish McKeich - conductor.
The programme will include:
Haydn - Symphony No 60 and Il Distratto
Hummel - Trumpet Concerto
Brahms - Serenade No 2
Mozart - Symphony no 25 in G minor K138
The NZSO has a long tradition of touring to smaller cities and towns around New Zealand. For this tour the orchestra splits to form two smaller touring orchestras of approximately 48 players each.
Michael Kirgan has been Principal Trumpet of the NZSO since 1997. He has performed all over America and Europe, studying initially in Northern Illinois before taking up principal positions in Mexico and Portugal.
Hamish McKiech conducts in a wide variety of genres including symphonic, contemporary, opera, chamber and big band. He works regularly with the NZSO and until recently was Associate Conductor.
