Eroica Trio - Napier
Chamber Music New Zealand is delighted to present the return of New York’s Eroica Trio. Their debut New Zealand tour in 2003 packed out halls around the country and had critics ecstatic in their praise.
The programme will include:
Rebecca Clarke - Piano Trio
Piazzolla - Oblivión
Piazzolla - Primavera
Paul Schoenfield - Café Music
Mendelssohn - Piano Trio No 2 in C minor Opus 66
The Eroica Trio are: Erika Nickrenz - piano; Susie Park - violin; and Sara Sant’ambrogio - cello.
All three women are top-ranked award winning soloists, and last year the trio celebrated their 20th anniversary. Sara and Erika have been playing together since they were twelve years old, and Australian violinist Susie Park joined in 2006 replacing Adele Pena.
In this programme, the classical intensity of Mendelssohn is mirrored by the darkly passionate music of Rebecca Clarke, and contrasted with the flair of Paul Schoenfield, whose Café Music is by turns sassy, bluesy and totally American. The evocative tangos Oblivión and Primavera were arranged specifically for piano trio by Piazzolla’s own cellist.
The trio will release a disc of all-American music, their eighth recording for EMI, in late 2008.
